On September 27, 2018, the York County Tax Claim Bureau (the “Bureau”) will be conducting the 2018 Upset Tax Sale. The sale will be held in the York County Administration Building, Court Room #1, 28 E. Market Street, York, Pennsylvania 17401. At the sale, certain properties encumbered by tax liens, tax judgments, or municipal claims will be exposed at public auction to obtain the delinquent taxes, costs, and expenses due to the various municipal taxing districts.
The properties will be sold subject to all existing mortgages, liens, and other encumbrances of record, meaning that a successful bidder will purchase the property and will have to address any of the foregoing encumbrances that remain due and payable. More importantly, the Bureau makes absolutely no representation or warranty whatsoever either as to the existence of the property, ownership, size, liens, title, appropriate notice provided to the current owner, or any other matter or thing. Accordingly, it is imperative for bidders to properly educate themselves on the title to the properties prior to bidding.
All bidders MUST pre-register to bid at the sale. Registration will begin on September 4, 2018 and will continue through close of business on September 18, 2018. Bidders can register with the Bureau at 28 E. Market Street, Room #110, York, Pennsylvania 17401 during regular business hours. All registrants must have a photo identification at the time of registration, such as a valid driver’s license or other acceptable form of identification. Keep in mind, there is no assignment of bids at the sale, and all bidders must be present to bid.
A complete list of the properties and the terms and conditions of the sale will be published in the York Legal Record and the York Daily Record shortly, and can also be purchased at the Bureau’s office.
