EPA Seeking Applications for Water Infrastructure Loans

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (“EPA”) is accepting applications for loans to fund water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including green infrastructure. The deadline for letters of interest is July 6, 2018. Eligible applicants include local governments, partnerships and joint ventures, corporations and trusts, and nonprofit groups. Approximately $5.5 billion authorized under the federal Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act is available.

EPA will prioritize projects that:
1) provide clean and safe drinking water, including reducing lead exposure, and
2) repair, rehabilitate and replace aging infrastructure and conveyance systems.

The minimum project size eligible for funding is $20 million for large communities and $5 million for small communities (populations of 25,000 or less). The funding can be used for up to 49% of project costs. For details on this funding project, visit https://www.epa.gov/wifia.
