The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (“DEP”) recently announced the availability of grants under its Alternative Fuels Incentive Grant Program. Approximately $5 million in grants will be available to school districts, municipal authorities, political subdivisions, and businesses to offset the costs of 1) retrofitting vehicles to operate on alternative fuels; 2) purchasing alternative fuel vehicles; 3) purchasing refueling equipment; and 4) research, training, development and demonstration of new applications related to alternative fuel vehicles. The purpose of the grant program is to improve air quality and to reduce consumption of imported oil by using homegrown alternative fuels.
Proposals can be submitted to DEP throughout 2017. Guidelines and application instructions can be found here. The application period opened May 27, 2017. Attorneys with Stock and Leader are available to provide assistance on submitting grant applications.
