2015 Bid Limits Increased

With the New Year upon us, we welcome in new bidding limits. Pursuant to Act 92 of 2011, the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry has announced an increase in the bidding thresholds for boroughs and townships for 2015. The Consumer Price Index-Urban for 2014 increased by 1.7 percent. As a result of the increase to the CPI-Urban, the bid limits effective as of January 1, 2015 are:

  • Purchases or contracts less than $10,500.00 require no formal bidding or telephone quotes.
  • Purchases or contracts between $10,500.00 and $19,400.00 require three (3) telephone quotes.
  • Purchases or contracts greater than $19,400.00 require the formal bidding process found in the various borough and township codes.

Of course, purchases and contracts under a cooperative purchasing contract, such as Co-Stars, do not require bidding. If you have any questions regarding bidding or other procurement issues, please contact David Jones or another attorney in the Stock and Leader Municipal Group.
