Attorney Martin Siegel will present at the Appalachian Pipeliners Association Meeting on December 11, 2018, in Canonsburg, PA.
Companies working in the pipeline industry must comply with a myriad of environmental regulatory requirements. Significant consequences could result for failure to successfully navigate these somewhat complex mandates. In addition, contracts with pipeline owners typically include environmental requirements and obligations. Therefore, companies must not only be aware of these obligations, they must also know how constructively interact with regulatory agencies, such as the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (“DEP”) and pipeline owners.
Attorney Siegel will draw upon his 22+ years as a DEP attorney to explore what institutional, political and economic factors motivate DEP employees and suggest strategies that will allow companies to successfully overcome regulatory hurdles they regularly encounter. These strategies will hopefully reduce friction with DEP and facilitate compliance efforts. He will also provide guidance on how to decide when it is worth challenging DEP actions and how to do so in the most effective manner.
