Annual Employment Law Update

Join Stock and Leader’s Employment Law Group for a lunch program covering issues employers should be keeping an eye on for the year ahead.

Topics include:

Employer duty to Protect Personal Data of Employees

In a very recent and groundbreaking decision, the Pa. Supreme Court has held that, because employees are required to provide personal data (DOB, SS#, etc.), employers have a legal duty to protect that data from being compromised, even as the result of criminal conduct by third party hackers. We will discuss this case and recommendations for how employers can reduce their exposure to this risk of liability.

The hiring process:  One rejection away from a lawsuit.

Think before you ask that question.

How do I get to know a candidate if I can’t ask any personal questions?

The use of a third party to review and screen out inappropriate /potentially discriminatory information.

Criminal background checks: when and how to use them.

Medical Marijuana in the Workplace: Two years later, what do we know?

How does PA’s Medical Marijuana Act impact employers, and what legal questions are implicated?

Workplace drug testing issues and determining when an employee is “under the influence”.

Safety in the workplace and other workplace drug use policy considerations.

$50 registration fee and registration required by March 7.
