We had the honor of sponsoring the YWCA York 2024 Dorrie Leader Advocacy Award honoring Sully Pinos. As the youngest recipient, Sully exemplifies the characteristics of this award, honoring community volunteer achievement and celebrating women who are champions for equity and embody YWCA’s mission of peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all.
Annually, the YWCA York honors a woman who exemplifies Dorrie Leader’s community contributions and advocates addressing equity and social issues. Leader led the local YWCA Board as President and then served on the national board. Remembered for her efforts in improving race relations and creating opportunities for minorities, Dorrie made a lasting impression on many and was the wife of the law firm’s co-founding member, Henry Leader.
As Stock and Leader Managing Partner Steve Hovis presented the award to Sully, he shared this about ‘Aunt Dorrie,’
“Dorrie dedicated her life to, and embraced, YWCA York’s mission of peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all people. Deep within Dorrie’s soul was a calling to advocate for others… Dorrie would have been very proud of the impact you made in our community.”
Congratulations, Sully!
