When Decisions Matter.

Dalton Revisits Youth Court Alliance

Leigh Dalton spoke with student volunteers for the York County Youth Court Alliance at Northeastern School District. Leigh is passionate about this program as she was influential in overseeing the implementation and expansion of the Youth Court Alliance in three York County school districts over a decade ago when she served as the Director of the York County Truancy Prevention Initiative.

The York County Youth Court Alliance, a United Way of York County program, in partnership with York County Truancy Prevention Initiative and the York County Office of Children, Youth, and Families, seeks to re-engage truant students in school and divert these students from entering Magisterial District Court for truancy hearings.

The student volunteers complete training to serve as lawyers, judges, bailiffs, and, most importantly, jurors, who will provide dispositions to reconnect truant youth to their school.
